Animal is the debut studio album from American recording artist Kesha. A project that took seven years to complete and that Kesha had written over 200 songs for, the theme of the album is a carefree message to not take minor issues in life too seriously. It musically incorporates electro beats and samples, while lyrically referencing events such as waking up in a Laurel Canyon house feeling like Diddy and vomiting in Paris Hilton’s closet at a party. Musically, Animal is of the dance-pop genre, while incorporating elements of electro and electro-pop in its production and beats. The album debuted at the top spot of the album charts in the United States and Canada with three non-singles—including “Blah Blah Blah”, a collaboration with electronica duo 3OH!3—debuting on the American Hot 100 chart. It received mixed reviews from contemporary music critics upon release.
